Foreground photographs were taken during a trip to the 29 Palms US Marine Corps Training Base, organized through Hillary Mushkin’s Incendiary Traces project. Within a simulated “Middle Eastern” village, a butcher shop hung fake meats. Looking past or through images of the USMC base, with its simulated “Middle Eastern village,” we might imagine connections to us, or to other places.
