Memory Viewer (2005)

Modeled after an old-fashioned pay telescope, viewers see a (past) DVD image of views of the installation site and its environs with one eye; the other eyepiece views an LCD monitor connected to the live camera mounted on the front of the sculpture. The images merge to form a hybrid of past and present, here and there. This piece was designed for the Venice, California Art Walk, but may be adapted for any site.
